Community Outreach

This year, the Apollo Chorus of Chicago celebrates its 140th season. The organization has a long history, intricately tied to the history of Chicago. The purpose of outreach, and my goal as Director of Outreach, is to give back to the city by:

Making connections with various organizations, such as schools
Coordinating concert attendance opportunities and outreach concerts for underserved populations
Organizing and overseeing educational opportunities within the community

In the past, outreach has set up donation funds for students to attend concerts for free, performed at schools and hospitals, and offered educational student guides for concerts. In the near future, we'll be offering pre-concert talks, small performances, and more! Recent Outreach Efforts

In November, March, and April, people from the Apollo Chorus of Chicago performed at the Hines Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Center. Veterans and staff members have also received donated tickets for this season's concerts.

At our December 10th performance of Messiah, 3 students and 2 chaperones from METROSquash attended the concert as well as our warm-up rehearsal, and had the opportunity to talk with our conductor before the concert.

Members of the Apollo Chorus of Chicago provided vocal support for a Messiah Sing-Along held at Mather LifeWays Senior Residences on December 15th.

We have also opened our rehearsal time to students who would like to observe a choir rehearsal.
